A 17-year-old died after colliding a go-kart with a forklift at a South Carolina amusement park. The family is seeking to learn more about the causes of the accident.
Kamel Seveion Sewell, 17, died from a head injury after crashing into a forklift at Frankie’s Fun Park in South Carolina on Friday (27). The young man’s family is seeking answers about the cause of the accident.
The coroner’s office told WYFF that Sewell’s death was ruled as accidental. The cause of the accident and other details are still under investigation.
“After my meeting with them this morning, it was clear they want answers. They deserve that. As the day progressed, my office began the process of fact-finding, focusing on the cause and the ‘who,'” said Sewell’s family attorney, Ryan James.
James said the family is in “deep mourning.” Colleagues of the young man expressed their sorrow over his death. “It’s very sad that this situation happened, especially because it could have easily been avoided,” said one of them.
The forklift was operated by another employee of the park. Frankie’s Fun Park manager, Jamie Waddell, said in a statement to the Greenville News that they are providing “information and assistance to both the authorities and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.”
“Please keep Seveion and his family in your thoughts,” he added.
